Calculating Population Density

I had a question on an exam about population density. I was not sure how best to solve the problem. I am hoping to get some help in case I run into it again.

The average population density is 80 people per square mile. The population density for 60% of the land area is 10 people. What is the population of the remaining 40% of the land area?

Chris can you tell me what exam and if it is on Khan Academy? I might be abule to help.

It wasn't on Khan Academy. It was a Civil Service Exam. the Formula for Population density is

Population Density= Population (N) / Area

Ok. I think it might be 32 but I'm not for sure.

80 = people/Area
60 % area = 10 people
therefore 100 % area is
60/100 = 10/x
6/10 = 10/x
6x = 100; x = 100/6 = 50/3

40 % of 50/3 is 50/3 * 40/100 = 2000/300
which floored is 6 people
