Poetry Practice Project on Khan Academy
Here's an idea for classic poetry on Khan Academy, leveraging open-access poems from the Academy of American Poets and Poetry Foundation websites. It reimagines the SAT Reading interface while opening up space for discussions on the most common poems in curricula.
Each poem-question set is displayed like an SAT Reading passage: poem on the left, practice on the right. Students read the poem and try some practice questions, but there's a Questions portal below. Or maybe in an article where only the poem is displayed, like US History primary texts articles.
In this discussion forum, questions about the poem are welcome. But this poetry dashboard is particularly for English classrooms, for freeing up class time for open-ended discussions while students read these assigned poems at their own pace. No course mastery here, but just progress tracking/poem assigning perhaps.
