How to get the Discussion Badges?

Hi Roshan!

Here is a breakdown of how community discussion badges work, alongside a guide on earning the rest of the badge tiers on Khan Academy:

1. Community & Discussion Badges

These badges are awarded based on the upvotes your answers receive from other learners in the platform’s discussion sections:

• Good Answer (Moon Badge): Post an answer that receives 10+ votes.

• Great Answer (Earth Badge): Post an answer that receives 25+ votes.

• Incredible Answer (Earth Badge): Post an answer that receives 50+ votes.

Tips to earn them consistently:

• Look for recent questions in popular subjects (like Algebra or Biology) where learners are stuck.

• Provide thorough, step-by-step solutions rather than just giving the final answer.

• Use clean formatting and maintain an encouraging, polite tone.

2. Main Badge Categories & General Requirements

☄️ Meteorite Badges (Common)

Easily accessible badges earned when starting out.

• Focus: Completing initial skill practice, watching your first few videos, or starting short activity streaks.

🌙 Moon Badges (Uncommon)

Awarded for sustained effort and consistent study habits.

• Focus: Achieving basic mastery across skills, maintaining multi-day learning streaks, or accumulating moderate video watch time.

🌍 Earth Badges (Rare)

Require a significant commitment to learning or high community engagement.

• Focus: Reaching mastery on dozens of unique skills, watching long-form instructional content (e.g., 1,000+ minutes), or hitting higher voting milestones on discussion answers.

☀️ Sun Badges (Epic)

Reserved for long-term dedication across major learning pathways.

• Focus: Mastering hundreds of unique skills, maintaining multi-year account activity, or completing major course tracks.

🏆 Challenge Badges

Specialized badges awarded upon reaching specific platform milestones.

• Focus: Completing full unit tests, mastering entire subject tracks (e.g., High School Math), or completing programming project challenges.

Strategies to Target Every Category

1. Daily Streaks & Video Watching: Schedule 15–20 minutes of daily activity to build consecutive learning streaks and steadily gain watch-time hours toward Moon and Earth tier video badges.

2. Skill Mastery: Focus on completing Unit Tests and Course Challenges to raise skills from "Practiced" to "Mastered" efficiently rather than doing individual practice sets one by one.

3. Tracking Progress: Check your profile’s Badges tab to see your current badge progress and discover specific unlocked vs. locked requirements!

Hope this helps! Feel free to ask if you need details on specific badges.

WOW! That was quite.... great! It seems, like a lot of work. Thank you for your time, and answer! =)
