Editing child settings in parent account.

For context, I have a child and parent account, and they are linked together. I recently switched browsers and my login info for the student account was lost. I tried to recover said information through the parent account but I was met with a "You don’t have permission to view or edit this account’s settings." message upon opening the child account settings. Is there any way around this? I would really like to maintain access to the child account.
