Help Solve a math problem
In a school election, Yolanda got 160 more votes than Alex, and Alex got twice as many votes as Jennifer. A total of 440 votes were cast. How many votes did Yolanda, Alex, and Jennifer receive?
Yolanda: Y
Alex: A
Jennifer: J
Y = 160 + A
A = 2J
Y + A + J = 440
160 + A + 2J + J = 440
160 + A + 3J = 440
280 = A + 3J
280 = 5J
J = 280/5 = 56
A = 2 · 56 = 112
Y = 112 + 160 = 272
Total votes 440 = Y+A+J
Y=A+160 A=Jx2 J=A÷2
J+(J+J)+(J+J+160)=440
440-160=280
280÷5=56
J=56
A=56×2=112
Y=(56×2)+160=272
