Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
Without Khan Academy, my dream did not come true. I really do THANK YOU!!!!!
It brings a smile to the volunteers such as myself and the Khan Team to see that lives are being changed for the better. Keep going! We're rooting for your success! :D
Hi Cyrus!
How did you become a volunteer for the Khan Academy team? And one question. In your profile you said that you were an FBI Teen Ambassador. What is the? Its definitely sounds like something I would enjoy doing.
Thanks a lot for contributing to KA! Im also taking a course here.
Moonlight Great question! It was a dream of mine to have some sort of direct affiliation with Khan Academy and after some looking around, I discovered the Support Advocate volunteer program! Anyone can apply if they're interested in supporting Khan & fellow learners.
The application is pretty straightforward, though I highly recommend drafting your responses in a Google Doc and taking your time when composing them.
It's an amazing opportunity to contribute to something you're very passionate about and I know I've personally learned and grown a lot from being a Support Advocate over the past 2+ years. It's a great experience to have under one's belt when applying to universities/pursuing other volunteer positions/opportunities.
The FBI Teen Ambassador position is what I earned after completing the FBI Teen Academy, one of their community outreach programs with a highly competitive application process. This is a volunteer capacity in which I help educate the public on important FBI initiatives at public events that the FBI attends.
I also share my experience at the FBI Teen Academy with others and promote other programs to those interested in learning about the FBI and even possibly pursuing a career there. Even if someone isn't necessarily thinking about actually working there, it's a very valuable and rewarding experience to have.
As far as the application, I recommend checking the website of your local FBI Field Office (you can see all the US field offices here) to see if they have the Teen Academy program or something similar there.
They don't seem to be accepting applications currently, likely due to COVID still being problematic, but keep an eye on it and if they resume outreach programs the application may open if it's offered.
For now, if you're interested in applying to one of these FBI programs, I recommend:
The process of applying to the FBI Teen Academy and maintaining activity as a Teen Ambassador for several years overall took a ton of sustained effort, but it certainly paid off tremendously. Whatever you're interested in pursuing, hard work will always be necessary, but if you love what you're doing and put in an honest effort, I think that makes it all the more rewarding.
So whatever you end up doing, volunteer or not, my advice would be to give it your all & always strive for new opportunities! :)
Hi Cyrus!
can you please guide me on how can I become a volunteer or teacher for Khan Academy? What procedure or protocol should I follow to become part of this institute?
You can check my website or profile and guide me according to my skills.
Thank you
aishajohny7 It's awesome to see your eagerness to contribute! :) As far as guidance, you can check out this page with guidance for potential future Support Advocates.
You can click here to access the Support Advocate volunteer application. Be sure to write your responses in a separate document and then copy them over (so you don't lose anything).
If you happen to be interested in a potential career at Khan Academy or an internship position, feel free to check out the Careers page! If your passion is teaching and developing new content for learners around the world, this is definitely worth looking into.
Best of luck, and let me know if you have any other questions! :D
Thanks, Cyrus
