Feature Suggestion - Project Folders

I think a tagging feature would offer more than folders.

If you look at a lot of coding sites you'll see that you can tag your programs (sometimes limited to say 5 tags per program) which you could then "filter" your programs similar (but more flexible) to folders. Then KA could implement something where if you went to a person's projects page (or your own) you could have an option to filter by tag (or multiple tags) so you'd get a grouped view of your games, graphics, animations, simulations, web pages, etc.

Generally, to implement this, KA would likely need to setup a global taxonomy (or folksonomy in this case) where it would store all tags centrally. That way when you went to tag your project and started to type the tag name, it would bring up any tags that match (including synonyms), and maybe even a number of other projects that have used the same tag. So you get a "most common" list of tags too.

This would also be very useful when using the KA API as you could filter on only programs that had the tag "game" for example. Or build in a filtering feature in your (HTML) program.

It would also provide the ability for KA to improve the hot list (another tab maybe) with more advanced search features.

However, as you mentioned, this is definitely unlikely in the near term. Hopefully something the KA team can add to their list of future features post the upgrade project - can only hope :)

I really like that tag idea. It accomplishes the same goal, and is simpler and would be easier for the developers to implement.
