Did Sal miss one force in this video?

We're encouraged to draw a free body diagram for the forces that are acting on a block.

Sal then goes into drawing the diagram himself. He draws friction force Ff pointing upwards, opposite to the force of gravity. I wonder: aren't there two friction forces we should draw here? One for gravity (going downwards, friction upwards) and one for the external force's vertical component (going upwards, friction downwards). Maybe I'm missing something?
