Algebra 1
How much work in hours is the course? I just want an estimate. So does anyone know?
Hello compisition_notebook,
It usually takes 2-3 hours to complete a unit, doing all the quizzes, tests, and practices and watching the videos. Since there are 16 units in Algebra 1, I think it is reasonable to say that it will take 32-42 hours to complete. It just depends on how fast you understand it. If you would like the complete list with the total time in each unit and the number of practices, quizzes, and articles, let me know and I can provide one for you.
Hope this helps.
In addition to what Blue-Ice mentioned, it may also be helpful to know that the Algebra 1 course has 328 videos with a total runtime of 28 hours. So at a minimum, it would take 28 hours to watch all of the videos at 1x speed, plus the time it takes you to complete all of the practice exercises, quizzes, and unit tests.
As Evan Lewis said, the Algebra 1 course as a "total runtime of 28 hours." Meaning if will take you 28 hours to watch all of the videos back to back. From there, it depends on how fast you complete the practices, quizzes, and tests (plus notetaking, if you are doing any). As I have said, it would probably take 2-3 hours for all that. So the total estimate would be: 30-31 hours.
1) My students are in the Algebra I course with the Mastery add-on and for some reason they watch the videos, but they are not checking off in my progress/grade book that they've watched them. Is there something linked to the quizzes' proficiency/mastery grade or is this a glitch?
2) In order for my student to do their assignments, they have to click the Assignments tab, they can not click my class or else they will be given all of Algebra I. Why can't they just select my course and only have my specific assignments show up?
Hi BrooksT,
There's a few different reasons why the videos might not be getting marked as completed for the students. This article offers a few explanations and solutions: https://support.khanacademy.org/hc/en-us/articles/115002789111-Why-aren-t-videos-showing-as-completed-in-my-profile-
I'm not quite sure what you're meaning by "click my class". From the students' homepages, they will see your class name along with an "Assignments" and "Course mastery" tabs. The "Course mastery" tab shows all assigned mastery goals. Clicking this will take the student directly to the Algebra I course page where they can work on their mastery progress (for all course content). If they click on the Assignments tab, they will see all of the content that you have assigned to them. They can complete their assignments directly from this page without needing to navigate to the full Algebra I course page.
Thank you.
I guess what I'm attempting to ask is why my course (Algebra I), in the center of the screen, to the right of "Assignments," pulls up all of Algebra I, when I selected specific topics?
Sorry for the late response here! I'm still not quite sure what you're referring to here---I'm not seeing any clickable link on the student assignment page that would take them to the full Algebra I course. Can you post a screenshot of this?
Here's what I'm seeing from my end:
All of the assignments listed in that screenshot open in a popup window, so the students aren't taken to the full course.
