Hello mikirokdy,
Have you looked at the Tips and Strategies on the SAT dashboard? If not, check those out first. I find them pretty useful in understanding what to look and watch out for in the SAT Reading section. But if they still don't help you, I would advice getting a tutor or a coach. If you know some people who also are taking the SAT, try doing a study group. They might have some tricks that you can use. If you have any more questions, doubts, or concerns, feel free to ask.
Hope this helps.
Reading old books can help to expand your vocabulary. Also, you can look up the definitions of words you don't know or are unsure of on the internet. I like to use Dictionary.com to learn the meanings of words I don't understand.
I hope this helps you out!
I would also recommend studying vocabulary from Stumptown as well as Prep Scholar. A lot of the vocab crosses over in these two lists so studying one of them should be sufficent. But you are welcome to study both.

I often have the same problem with SAT Reading: History practice. Some of the things that helped me were reading thoroughly through the passage, actively highlighting phrases/words that seem important, and asking yourself questions after a certain paragraph or sentence. When I mean, "read thoroughly," I really. really, really mean read thoroughly, don't usually re-read, unless the questions say particular lines (ex. "in lines 38 - 41"). It is ok to take your time during the reading, just make sure you are reading word for word. Actively highlighting certain phrases/words, goes with reading thoroughly, since reading thoroughly will help you understand the words that you are reading. And, ask yourself questions before reading the passage (after reading the "blurb" of the text), and during the passage (preferably after a certain sentence or paragraph). Reading actively in anything whether it is SAT or not, is important, but reading actively in the SAT particularly, has got to be a must. I hope this helps!
