Assign an assignment after it is already mastered?

Yes, your students will need to complete the assignment again for it to show up on your teacher dashboard. If students complete an assignment before it has been assigned, their score will not be reflected on the teacher dashboard.

First, I'd like to say, I'm grateful for this resource. My daughter is using Khan Academy in her homeschool to get ahead.

Having said that, this particular issue is very unfortunate. I hope Khan Academy considers an update in which students are credited with the work they have done, even if it is assigned after they completed it. I accidentally assigned a few items to my daughter after she completed them and they now show up as overdue. 

It would be much easier if I could assign items to my daughter and the system "syncs" her completed work to the assignments and marks them complete after I assign.

I would also recommend Khan academy update this policy but instead of automatically syncing with past work, allow the teacher to make changes to any grade in the dashboard. For example, I have students who completed an assignment before the rest of the class but would need to redo the assignment for "credit." I might also want to assign full credit for a student who did the work offline because they have internet issues or prefer paper copies. 

Agreed. Especially when we are talking about work done within a single school year. I could see if a student completed something a year or two ago and you wanted a fresh start. But I have students working on the Course Mastery in the background, and then I assign something, and they have to do it again to receive a score on the dashboard.
