Remote Tutors/Coaches

Hi Zachary,

I have been contemplating your words for the last few days as I feel they are very insightful and go right to the point. Unfortunately, I am afraid Khan Academy simply does not have enough bandwidth to take such a big leap from its current features. However, as we grow and expand, we will keep these words in mind and make more efforts to stick to our mission as you stated.

We are very grateful for users like you, who help us grow and think critically about the services we provide!

I’d suggest reaching out to the homeschool/tutoring/adult/alternative education community around you.

A few friends and I tutor students of any background. While we’ve found that SOME payment is necessary (as an incentive to not stand us up and waste our time), we are vary flexible. I’ve had a teen who earned 2 free movie passes per month while working at a theater “pay” for 3x weekly tutoring with one pass, while a teen working in a grocery store “paid” me with one ramen package per week (and didn’t know that I donated it to the local food bank).

If you’re solely looking to find a coach for yourself/a student, please let me know and we’ll find a way to discuss.

Thank you Alexandre for thinking about this and keeping it in mind for the future!  I'm happy that someone saw this and was able to consider it.  I know that Khan Academy has done so much for me and others around the world, especially now during the pandemic, and I just wanted to say thank you.

Sorry I didn't make it more clear, I am interested in being a coach/tutor for students.  I just thought this feature or something like this could be a nice way to connect students with tutors or mentors remotely.

I completely agree that it would be helpful to have a section of the community forum dedicated to matching up volunteers with students. And it might be nice to have a link to that section of the forum for parents and 13+ students in the coach/teacher section.
