Whenever someone releases a program, they almost always leave a Tips & Thanks on it with a link to their subscription page. Some more advanced users may leave Tips & Thanks for API. Some organizations may leave Tips & Thanks for more information. I’m sure you get the idea ; ) The problem with this is that they want their Tips & Thanks to be at the top of the program. After all, they do deserve it, right? They usually ask users to vote it up but that seems to be confused with vote soliciting. So I though, why not another way? Imagine if the creator of a program could also add in a Tips & Thanks or small series of Tips & Thanks and then pin them to the top of the forum under their program. It would solve a lot of issues if used correctly. There are some possible problems but I think we can overcome them. The biggest one I see is people abusing that feature to leave tons of pinned Tips & Thanks. This could be solved by only allowing one. If any of you have any other ideas about issues that may arise, please let me know. I think this could be a really good addition to the computer programming platform.

So when I see this I think of YouTube, which users can pin a comment to the top. Often times that is a comment like "subscribe and slap the bell" or "subscribe or I'll do something totally random to you".

Now, while this may be a good idea, I expect people to abuse it with pinning unneeded/inappropriate comments.

Perhaps it could be different from the normal forum in the way that you don’t get to just type something out. There could be options for content. One might be for a link to your subscription page and then it only lets you insert the link and it writes the description. For API, it would start off the post with *API Thread* and then have a limited area underneath for you to give a description.

I see, but why exactly do you need an API description? Should this be a requirement for a program? This is a great way to abuse the API.

API descriptions would only apply where there is thread specifically for API. For instance, if someone has a blog thread that they use in the program with the API.

SP - Maybe there could be an option to flag for "unnecessary pinning"? Just throwing out an idea. If three to five people flagged it, it would be automatically unpinned?

How to you pin comments? Because my subpage has my subthread pinned but I didn't do it(or didn't mean to) and it is? And someone asked me how to do it.
