Hello to all of you wonderful and people in the KHAN community! First of all I just wanted to tell you guys that I really appreciate all that you do. This is by far the best platform out in the world that will help bring some kind of equity within the education system. I started to use Khan academy 6 years ago to pass my PRAXIS math test to get a teacher licenses.
I joined TEACH for AMERICA 5 years ago and have been in the same class ever since. I teach in a very underprivileged rural town in the Louisiana Delta. CNN did a piece on the town and the school I teach at called "the most unequal place in america" back in 13 or 14 take a look and you will see some of the hardships my students face under regular circumstances. Now that schools are closed my students will unfortunately be some of the hardest hit. We are trying our best to get every student learning at this time and KHAN has helped me reach a large group of my students. For that I am in your debt thank you all so much.
With the uncertainty of the times we are in. I wanted to request that there be some kind of way teachers can message with their students? Many of my students come to me several years below grade level both academically and developmentally. They need words of encouragement from someone they know and trust to get started but once they feel successful boy watch em go! I know that I could reach more students to go further if I could message with them while they work on the Khan platform. If at all possible please try to figure out a way for teachers to message students. I know this would help my kids so figure I can't be the only teacher.
Thank you very much for hearing me out and again thank you for your work and please keep it up you guys are really making a difference now more than ever for places like us with limited resources.
