Remember closed-captioning preferences between videos

This also bugs me. There's a work around with javascripts for firefox and chrome but they randomly stop working and you have to reinstall. I wish they'd fix this. Doesn't seem like it should be too difficult.

Because of accessibility reasons, we chose to keep a video's closed captions and subtitles activated. This is to help our hearing-impaired users and users who prefer to use screen readers, allowing them to have a better experience in our platform.

That being said, I've passed your feedback along to the team and it will be part of our conversation as we plan the future of Khan Academy.

Thanks Dustin!  I completely appreciate the need for accessibility.  However, I think that goal would be met if closed captions were turned on for every video by default (as they are now), but then turned off for every video if the user clicks the "cc" button.

along the same line, my videos are generally partly obscured by something at the top telling me about the number of points I have garnered. Seems like it often sits atop part of a chemical equation that Sal is describing.

I also dislike having closed captions on, and really hope that something like Rob is suggesting is implemented since clicking the cc button dozens of times a weeks is getting irritating. 

(Side note, the fact that I am watching dozens of videos of week is a complement. Thanks for producing such great content!)

BTW, Bill, I used to have that problem until I started moving my cursor off of the video. Maybe that will help.
