Please let new students who join late have access to past assignments

I am just wondering if this has been changed.  Is there a way to add all the past assignments to students who are added after the due date ?  I have the same concerns as above..

I have the same concern as the other educators who have commented here. I have students who joined the group late are are now wondering how to see all of the assignments that I have put in for our group. It is important information, especially during this time of e-learning.

I did change the dates for the majority of my assignments to be today. I still, however, have kids say that they can not see the assignments. It has now made record keeping a mess as the assignments are out of order according to the dates that they were originally assigned.

If you are able to fix this issue, it would be a tremendous help to teachers and students.

Same here.  I keep getting questions from students who signed up late about what their work is. It would be so much better if there was an option we could select on assignments that allow them to automatically show up for every student as soon as they sign up for our Khan class.

Yes, this feature is sorely missed. When a student joins your class, there needs to be an option to give them access to ALL past assignments automatically. The option to add them to Active assignments is not enough. Creating separate assignments for the new students or changing the due date for everyone is not ideal for the reasons outlined above. 

The interface to copy an assignment and re-assign it to anyone who was missing it before is also difficult to use, when you un-check everyone it's easy to forget who needs it. If you accidentally click "edit" instead of "copy" before doing this you can accidentally overwrite all the completed assignments as well. This step shouldn't be necessary in the first place, but its also specifically difficult to use as well.

I had my students join as a class way back in August, but some never signed up (oops...not sure what they were doing during KA review time haha). Over the last few weeks, we have been relying on KA for math assignments, so I discovered some of the kids hadn't sign up. Everyone FINALLY joined, but each time a student joined in the last few weeks, I reassigned the unit, thinking they would have access. But no! It wiped the other students' scores!!! I can only see some of them, and through a twisted pathway of guess-I'll-try-this-button clicking. 

It was so helpful reading this conversation- I also learned that kids joining "late" were not able to see the assignment because, to their view, it was not assigned.

100% agree with the original post. Students who are late to join the COVID19 online classroom would benefit tremendously, not to mention the organizational and logistical benefit to the educator. If this could be address in a software update, it would be phenomenal.

It is beyond sad this is not yet resolved and as the poster djones has said, COVID-19 means many students are late to join often because they now have a huge load of online work, way beyond what normal school based tasks would involve.

I regularly have New Students joining and have to click a few in each time I do an assignment check. This is the stage where a small software enhancement needs to be made allowing newly joined students to have prior assignments click assigned to them on joining. The 'You have xx new students joining' notification is also not very useful as it does not show who they are and they just join a very long list of already present students. That makes it difficult for the teacher to do the manual work around of finding the late joiners and re-assigning them past work.

Would be nice to know that Khan developers have a 'fix or enhance' list to work on? Optimistically yours...

I too am sad that this has not been resolved.

Like PMC, above, I too regularly have New Students and I want them to be able to access the past assignments, so they have access to the same materials as all the other students. But, It takes a VERY LONG time to edit every single assignment and video, mainly because the due dates must be changed for all the assignments in order for that new student to have access.

It seems like there should be a way, when we get the New Student notification, to have the option to assign all the past work to that student. PLEASE try to make this happen! At the high school level, when you have 5 classes and up to 36 students (and schedules changing every now and then), manually updating is such a chore!

This is not just a helpful feature, this is an essential function.  Not being able to do this with the rampant technology issues and difficulties rostering my online students (especially as KA can no longer be rostered with Clever in my district) is a very near deal-breaker for me.  It makes managing my student scores a nightmare.

I have to agree with all above. Without some kind of "add assignments to new student" feature, I'm dead in the water. 

I love this program, thank you so much for it! I plan to donate a portion of my paycheck because it's so useful to me. But I really don't know what to do with the constant new kids coming into my class...if I give them the assignments, I can no longer see the scores for the rest of the class...counterproductive!

Please, please, please, fix this issue. I have students who are showing up for the first time this school year. It is virtual, so this would be the most efficient way to get them caught up with everyone else.  They didn't join the class until today, even though they were enrolled our SIS is synced with Khan. Since they were not in my class, they were not added. 

So, as an interim fix, I've simply made all assignments due the last day of the semester. That way they're accessible to all. 

I have to keep scrupulous records of which assignment is which and when I assigned it as the government ones can be confusing as they all sound alike!

The student interface could be more visually simplified for ease of use.

Some kind of way to keep track of assignments issued and when would be hlepful for teachers.

This needs to be changed.  I am wanting to assign past work to students who enter the class late, and I have to either change all the due dates or reassign the work individually.

I feel there needs to be a grid view for the assignments Manager tab similar the Scores tab where we can check or uncheck assignments for students in each class.

There are 1 year of non-stop comments here.  Administrators, please, please, please take note!  It is crucial to be able to allow new students to access CURRENT and PAST assignments immediately upon joining the class without the teacher doing anything.

At some point in Khan Academy,  late joining students would have a dialogue box appear asking if the student wanted to download older assignments.  I wish it was still the case.  

Please add the feature of new students being able to access past due  assignments. Specially with distance learning, this is a problem. 

It would really really help if we had an easier way to do this! Please add this feature!!!! I get new students every week. If they start in the middle of the quarter they aren't able to achieve the entire credit unless they do previous assignments. I always like to give them access to previous assignments, but it is so tedious to do and the current students always get confused why the due dates keep changing. 

I can't believe it's been 5 years since the original post and KA's programmers can't figure out a way to allow students access to past due assignments. First, why in this modern educational world would we ever design curriculum in such a manner that makes it MORE difficult for students to access the learning? Just because an assignment is past the due date, doesn't mean teachers don't want their students to access it. It's ridiculous to think teachers would want to completely shut off students from past due work. Not to mention, new students who weren't in our classes, should be able to go back and see what they've missed while they've been away. It's been 5 years since a teacher brought this issue up and it still hasn't been fixed. PLEASE FIX IT. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. Students are being denied access to curriculum.
