Almost every time I pause a video to check something on the screen it's hidden by either a YouTube next-video-suggestions bar, by the video title across the top and/or sometimes even the KA points score. Having to dismiss these all the time (especially for someone like me who has to pause video a lot) is very disrupting. Is there *any* way to turn these off?
So I see this problem is in Firefox, but not GoogleChrome, which might explain why people aren't screaming about it. For anyone reading this who might want to keep using FF here's a GIF to show how to add some CSS to the page to hide the YouTube overlay and enable you to read questions on a paused screen.
1. Open Style Editor ( Shift + F7 or Menu > Web Developer > Style Editor)
2. Scroll to the last CSS sheet in the bottom left pane and Select it.
3. Paste in this code:
.ytp-title, .ytp-pause-overlay {display:none}
This might stop working if you restart your browser and have to be repeated. If that's something you have to do a lot, you could try something like this: https://www.itsupportguides.com/knowledge-base/computer-accessibility/how-to-use-a-custom-style-sheet-css-with-firefox/
This still happens for me in Chrome and while Colin's fix works nicely, I have to do it for every video which is a bit tedious.
Another quick fix is to enter full screen, right click on the title then: This frame > Show only this frame (or open this frame in a new window/tab). This takes you out of the Khan Academy page and let's you watch the video without the title appearing when you pause. The tradeoff is that your progress is no longer recorded, so it's not perfect.
Can we please change the base functionality on the site? Pausing and working through the problems is an integral part of learning but it's a pain if the question covered by the title bar. I've tried it in three different browsers and it is still the same so I can't be the only one.
