Contests for international students

Hello, I'm not a US student, and that makes me feel distant from Khan Academy community.

Well, one of the reasons is that all of the contests are for US students, and the worst thing is that in CampKhan, this was totally not mentioned in the beginning, even Stephanie's answer was vague! So I had my dreams of winning the prize crushed... I had a great idea I wanted to share.

So please, I request two things:
1. Make contests for non-US students (or those living outside US).
2. Please make it clear FROM THE BEGINNING whether it's only-US or not.

After all, the motto of Khan Academy is provide a free, world-class education to anyone, anywhere.

Hi Lin,

While looking at the original "Join us for Camp Khan" article, I can't find anything that says it's only available to US residents- I believe that only appears once you go to the "Project Criteria and Submission" article, which appeared mid-June. I'm sorry that you were confused by this, and I'm sure you're not the only one who started their project before realizing they were not eligible to win. I'll admit that when I had originally looked at the article, I had thought it was open to everyone, too.

I agree that the contests should be available to everyone, not just US-based learners. A ton of non-US learners use Khan, so I suspect (or at least hope) that contests for residents outside the US could be in the works. I'll see if I can escalate this, and maybe something can be done about it in the future.

In the meantime, if you have any ideas about how this could possibly be implemented, ect., please feel free to share them here.

How about making a contest country by country? If making an international contest is too hard, make one for one specific country or group of countries?

Fortunately I haven't started fully on the project but (only the idea) but can't say I'm not disappointed... I thought if I won the prize I could give the other one I have (or maybe the price itself) to a friend who doesn't have one (at least not a personal one I think) and whose conditions forced them to study at home...
