Can I get some help with this "Number of solutions to equations" exercise?
I can see clearly how Option C is correct but i cannot wrap my head around how Option A is correct...
Answer says that if Q=-6 and P=103, then the equation will result in one equation. Let's test it out!
The equation with Q and P substituted: -6x-6=103x-103. I see what you mean, it might not look like it will result in one solution, but when you solve for x, one solution will appear.
-6x-6=103x-103
-6=108x-103 (I added 6x to both sides)
97=108x (Then, I added 103 to both sides)
x=97/108 (Divide both sides by 108)
When Q=-6 and P=103, you get one solution, which is x=97/108. So yes, Option A is correct
amazing! thank you for explaining that so quickly!
ill have to quit being so lazy and actually do the work rather than trying to breeze through the test.
No problem! :D
Yup, I remember going through this skill, I thought I could also breeze through it but it didn't work so I took my time and did the work :)
