wait, i have to explain the one i dont know. i dont know question two, it says that x can have 4 solutions. i need to know the other two solutions.
All four solutions: x=2, x=3, x=((-1+sqrt(17))/2), x=((-1-sqrt(17))/2). You have to solve for 3x-5=((x-1)^2) and 3x-5= - ((x-1)^2) because of the absolute value sign on the 3x-5. Plugging in the solutions into both sides, each side will come out to be 1, 4, or ((13+3*sqrt(17))/2).
