Confused About Flipping the > < Signs
I was taking a test and I got the problem 4t -3 > 37t -50
I was taught to put the variable on opposite sides from the numbers, so combining the variables I got it to look like this: 47 > 33t (because if you bring the -50 over it becomes +50, and so on)
Then I divided each side by 33 to get t alone.
My final answer was 47/33 > t
But Khan Academy said the sign should've flipped somewhere in the problem, leaving me with an answer of 47/33 < t
I just don't understand why the way I was previously taught isn't correct.
Thanks for your help :)
