Mastery question
Hello,
I'm posting this question in advance of today's Office Hours:
My school has begun using "Mastery" on KA as a key measure for student progress. So, I'm extremely interested in understanding the nuances of how it's measured and how I can view student progress as it pertains to Mastery. This past year, I didn't find an easy way to view student mastery without clicking on each student's name to check on their progress. So, I'm curious if that is possible. I'm also interested in better understanding the new "Mastery points" system that has appeared and how I can use it as a teacher to better measure student progress.
Further, I'm a bit confused by a current discrepancy that I've found in measuring Mastery:
- For example, when I'm in the "Explore" tab of Mathematics I, it shows my mastery at 51% (or 11,610/ 22,750 Mastery points). See first screen shot.
- However, when I'm in the "Mission" tab of Mathematics I, it shows my mastery at 63%. See second screen shot.
I'm not sure if both of these elements would be visible to me as a teacher with regard to my students' progress, but I could definitely see it causing some confusion for my students if a similar discrepancy appears for them. Any insights on what is driving these %'s and why they don't align, as well as what I can see as a teacher with regards to student progress would be hugely helpful.
Many thanks!
