Update: Introducing... Khan Academy Kids!

If our child(ren) have accounts (username access) on Khan academy already, how are we supposed to sign into the app (email access)? When I input the (parent) email that is tied to the child(ren) account(s), I get an alert that says, "Sorry, there's no account with that email address." Is there an option to use the usernames (accounts) from the regular Khan Academy website child's account with the Khan Academy Kids App?

Thank you guys so much for working so hard. I think this is amazing. Keep it up! I homeschool and your site has given me lots to incorporate into my homeschooling.

I would love to use this for my preschoolers, but we don't have tablets and I'm not sure I want them using it on my phone. Is there a way to use this on the computer? Or will this app/program somehow be incorporated into the website?

Jonathan, the Khan Academy Kids mobile app uses separate accounts from the Khan Academy website. Feel free to use your existing Khan Academy usernames for Khan Kids, but choose "sign up" instead of "already have an account".

I have been following the Khan Academy for years now and love the work you do.

Just a thought but you moved your platform to use the EOS ecosystem (blockchain) you could reward people in say the 'Khan' token running within a smart contract on the EOS platform that would equate to a real $ value when it started to trade on exchanges.  Nothing incentives people more than money :-).  I am even willing to help as much as I can too and can create the Khan token for you to play with.

@Soffy Ford you can use an android emulator and download the app on the emulator using a desktop PC. I recommend BlueStacks.

I’m not a kid and don’t have kids myself, so I won’t be using this new platform myself. But it sounds like a great innovation. Just one thing that will make this a super, great innovation - If there is equal gender distribution among the story characters/heroes. So many learning platforms have traditionally made the leadership heroes male, sometimes with no female role models at all in the character set! I hope you haven’t followed this path, too.

@Regina We're glad you mentioned the characters. Khan Academy Kids features five colorful animal characters: Kodi the bear (female), Reya the red panda (female), Peck the bird (male), Sandy the dingo (female), and Ollo the elephant (male). My daughter and I love Khan Academy Kids. She is almost 5 and I was trying to do the regular Khan academy with her but she can't do it by herself because you have to read the questions and she isn't that good of a reader yet. This new one is so nice because it talks to her. I was wondering if there was any way to track her progress? Does this get more difficult as she does things correctly? It didn't ask for a birthday so is there any way to go in and change her age? Its probably not necessary if it auto calibrates the level for her but if not I would like to update her age if that means the level will go up. I was playing around in the library a little and I was wondering if there is a way to mark things that are done?

The Khan Academy Kids team is very happy to hear that your daughter is enjoying the app. Viewing your child's progress is possible in the Library view, where a colored checkmark is visible on activities they have completed. I looked in the library and nothing is marked. Does she have to pick a specific task to work on to get checks? Right now she has just been hitting the play button on the house and getting a nice mix of things. I emailed the support team yesterday and they haven't responded yet, you were much quicker.

Hi Melissa! Yes, she can pick a specific task in the Library, and once she completes the task, she will see the completion checkmark. You can also see the checkmark for activities played in her Learning Path (big play button) and proceed through the mix of content that progresses along with her learning level.

The Learning Path activities cover a wide range of categories, so it might take a little while to find them in the Library. If her account is currently age 4, make sure to check "Level C" in the Library under the 123, Reading, and Logic + categories. If her account is age 5, then check "Level D" in the Library under those same categories. Is it possible to make this app available on Android 4.4.2? My kids have Nabi Dreamtabs, but I can't download the app since it says it isn't compatible.

Please link the mobile app and the website accounts. It would be great to be able to monitor kid's progress from my laptop instead of using his tablet!
