HSPT (High School Parochial Entrance Exam)

The HSPT is a Catholic High School Entrance Exam and is known for having alot of questions to do in a short amount of time (about 300 in 2.5 hours). It's a 5 part test broken into the following sections: Verbal, Quantitative; Reading; Mathematics; and Language Skills.

The challenge as I see it is to determine which academic concepts my daughter understands and which ones require ongoing attention. I'm thinking the best way to measure that is to have her take a practice 'diagnostic' HSPT test and work from there.

Has anyone had experience with studying for this exam on Khan Academy or could make suggestions on best way to approach getting the most prepared for this exam? How am I assured for example in matching up math or English lessons on Khan Academy that will cover the material that is on this exam?

Hi. I am a 7th and 8th grade math teacher also looking to give my students some guidance on ways to prepare for the HSPT. This will be for their own use, but I want to be able to give them topics to practice. I am just starting this process, but I am thinking of giving them a practice math test, analyzing the questions and coming up with a plan for them to study. So, it sounds to me like you are on the right track. I believe you can set yourself up as a coach and while I haven't found out how to give assignments to my students yet, I'm working on it!

How do I get a copy of a "High School Parochial Entrance Exam"? Is there one on Kahn Acadamy for me to use?

Hi Sharon,

I have purchased several self-help books by Kaplan, Princeton Review, REA, McGraw Hill, etc. I used Khan to set up a course of study for the students. I used what Khan already had in place.
