How can we help?

• Official comment

Hi there!

I have some great news to share with you!

Based on the feedback you and many others shared, Khan Academy has launched a new feature that allows learners to start over an activity without needing to fully complete it first— it’s called the “Start Over” link!

We hope you will enjoy this new feature, and welcome any feedback you have about it. Passion from the Khan Academy community helped bring this feature to life, and we truly thank you for sharing your thoughts about it. You helped make Khan Academy a better learning resource for everyone!

Thanks again, and happy learning!

Kind regards,

Grace

Great idea!

Yes, I would like this, too, and I gave it an upvote. KHAN ACADEMY, IF YOU EVER DO THIS, PLEASE DON’T FORGET US APP USERS!

When this does happen to me, I take it as an opportunity to be a bit adventurous on any later questions, when I am, say, 2/3 confident in an answer but have that 1/3 doubt. (These numbers are arbitrary.) If I have a perfect score going so far, I will choose the 2/3 likely answer, but if I have already missed one, I will sometimes choose the less likely answer. Or maybe the answer is a decimal number with an absolute value between zero and one. I have never seen the point (no pun intended) of writing the zero before the decimal point for these numbers in most instances, even though I know it is proper form. Most of the time when the answer is such a number, I include that zero. But when I have an incorrect answer already, I will omit that zero. It’s been counted as correct each time I’ve done it, but I’m not taking any chances.

I like this idea, especially when I am trying to get 100% correct.

It's annoying when I make a mistake.

I personally just use the hints to start over when I make a mistake, but it takes a lot of time.

One vote up from me for this suggestion.

thanks for sharing your thoughts! This feedback has been passed along to the team :)

As part of our Support Community improvement project, we’re preserving inactive posts that have historical or community value and closing them to new comments. This is one of them!

If this post covers a topic that you’re interested in discussing with the community or requests a feature you’d like to see on Khan Academy, you can try to find an active post about it and add your thoughts (or feel free or create a new post if it doesn’t yet exist in the forum).

this should still also be used in course challenges and mastery challenges

idk why it is not used there

This is absolutely the WORST feature.

Students simply use it to get all the answers to every question just to get a 100%.

Teachers MUST have the ability to turn off this feature, as well as limit the # of retakes for the quizzes or tests.

I agree with Russell Byer above.  Please allow teachers to turn on and off features.  It is impossible to assess a student's abilities or their growth with unlimited retakes and being able to "start over."

Hey Russell Byer and Joanna O'Donovan! I hear you. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts. I have bubbled them up to the teacher product team to take into consideration for future improvements to the platform.

Grace I also agree and would like the ability to disable start over.  Is there any transparency what features are being worked or time-frame in which these things happen?  Thanks
