I need to change my child's grade level. Nothing posted has given me an answer.
My third graders are developmentally delayed. They need to be at first grade level as does my 14 year old who needs to begin at 2nd grade level.
Hi Ann,
If your children go on the math mission they should be at, and start working there, that mission or topic will appear on their dashboard under Recent missions and/or Resume learning. These work as shortcuts to the study material. They can find new topics to work on under Subjects, in the upper left part of their screens when logged in.
If you want to change the grade level you've set as in the coach tools, make sure you have enabled the coach dashboard. If you have registered as their parent or coach you can use the coach tools, but you must activate the coach tools first if you haven't already. This is done in your Settings under Roles. https://www.khanacademy.org/settings/account
If you haven't created your classes yet this is when to do so. https://www.khanacademy.org/coach/dashboard
There's a grade icon at the top left of the class window under Manage class. Click the down arrow to select the class mission. Please consult the coach material on Khan Academy https://www.khanacademy.org/educator/reference-for-coaches/how-to/a/choose-a-mission-for-your-class if you get stuck.
If you are still stuck, let me know exactly where, trying to do what.

When they login to Khan to start working find "mission" often in the upper left. Select early math and have them start from the beginning. Once they complete that, move to the next mission, early math etc. @Inger Hohler's suggestions are great.
I made the mistake with my own kids of thinking they should start in the class they are in, ignoring Sal Khan's advice of starting at the beginning. This applies for the gifted as well as the developmentally delayed. Now I encourage them to build from the ground up.
Also really try to keep the streak going - the login every day. Watch out for the "reds" - areas that they are struggling with.
You'll find everything you need within Khan, but if you want an outsider's tips & tricks, I wrote something up here.
I need to change the grade of my son. When I created my child account I pushed 1st grade instead 2nd grade. Do you know how to change the grade?
Hi Andrew, as you can read in my earlier post in this thread, there are several places where you could have set your child's grade. Can you explain to me where you did this? Please don't post any images containing personal information. If you feel you need to do that, post your Support request using the Report a problem button on the Home page of the Help center. This will bring you to an area where your request can be handled with privacy.
When creating the profile, I selected 7+ for the age. It defaults to 1st grade... When I click the drop down menu where it shows 1st grade, I do not have any higher grades as an option... Only lower age ranges. How can I get my correct grade in place?
Hello, Ashlee!
To edit the grade and courses—add or delete—from your Learning Home, please follow these steps:
I hope this helps! If the issue persists, please submit a support request. Our support team will be more than happy to help you.
