Hi,

I've been using Khan academy for several years, and it has really helped me learn throughout my schooling.

But I recently took up computer programming and I see a lack of variety of programming languages available on the site. I am eventually looking to go into the programming field for gaming, and I was wondering if anyone knew what language would be best to start learning for that field. I have a background in the basics of C#, but that is majorly it. From what I have seen it looks like C++ is the dominant programming language for gaming, but I am unsure.

In anyone could provide me with advice or input that would be much appreciated!

Once you do that, check out codeacademy.com to learn frameworks and other stuff like "command line" (bash) and git.

C# is used quite a bit with Unity for making games, as are other things. It really depends on whether or not the game is the sort that needs to be able to squeeze maximum FPS out of whatever hardware people have.

People also use stuff like GameMaker which uses a JS-like language combined with a bunch of IDE tools. There's an extremely good deal on this right now on https://www.humblebundle.com/gamemaker-bundle ($15 for stuff that usually costs hundreds.)
