Update: Percentages added back to Subject navigation view

Laurie, Thanks for the post. The comments regarding casual users vs. more intensive users explains a lot. My counter argument would be that if something didn't hinder a casual user, but greatly aids a full site user, it should have been left in as the new design is more barren than minimalist.

And while the Subject Menu % are indeed helpful, the most useful % indicators are what used to be found in the icons for each main topic as depicted here:

One can instantly see which of the (7) 7th grade topics have been completed and / or how much more one has to do. And when you click on one of those (7) topics you instantly can see what is next in the sub topics.

As it stands now with the new design you have to click on each and every sub-topic to find out what has been completed or if new material was added to something you already completed. If the pages above exist why can't they be accessed by full users of KA? 

That the new design was rendered for casual users does explain the Explore page. I have likened it to the dust jacket on a book. Great for a quick glance over the first time you pick up a book but not something you'll ever read again.

For full users of KA the Explore page is totally useless. I know - or used to know - where I want to go. But when I click on a particular grade, instead of being taken to a table of contents or a mission page I'm taken to the dust jacket again and again where I have to scroll down through 7 useless links to get to a TOC that doesn't even attempt to indicate which sub-topic links might have already been visited.

Isn't the goal to get every child everywhere to become a full time user of KA? If so why does the new design treat everyone like they most likely won't be back?

1) We don't think that percentages in their current iteration are entirely clear - does % refer to the amount of content you've completed, as opposed to mission mastery?  It's never really explained and casual users might not pick up on the difference.

I don't follow. Why would it be the % of mission mastery? There is no set amount of content within each mission so knowing the % of missions completed doesn't really tell you much.

Furthermore, in the old Khan design, in that each mission was a sub topic with a grade, you could easily see visually what percentage of the missions were completed by glancing at the circled icons.
