Create my own assessment!
I've used khan for 4 years now! All of your updates and integrations have been great as well. I really believe in your program and with the support of my administration and as the math department head at my school, "The International School at Thornton Middle" I have been able to encourage and support all 8 of my teachers to implement Khan in each of their classrooms. Every teacher has at least 8 chrome books at their disposal and the recommendation below is a consensus between myself and my teachers.
I think it would be great if I had the automany to create an "assessment" similar to what a mastery challenge is. Essentially, It would be really helpful to be able to go into a "create assessment" tab where I can create an 8 to 15 question assessment (for formative, summative, or review purposes). In this new "create assessment" tab, I could select whatever excercise i want and the assessment would pull one question from that excercise. I would repeat this with 7 to 10 more times depending on the content i want in my "mini-assessment".
This would be a deeper adaptation to the "recommend" feature of your website and program and the assessment i create then would be a recommendation i give to my students.
The greatest advantage this would give to me is that I would be able to mix "application", "conceptual" and "knowledge" based problems into one recommendation that would also span a variety of standards within a math strand pertaining directly to my lessons.
This capability would further engage my students to a much deeper level because your system of accountability would be even more adaptable to my students needs (differentiation, adaptation, extension, application, etc). I would also give me even more focused feedback on my students growth and needs for accomadation.
I really feel that this feature would be similar to that of your "mastery challenges" that are already recommended to the students by your equations. I just think it would be great if i could create my own "mastery challenge"
Thanks for reading about my departments Idea for assessment creation. You guys rock and we are all very greatful for the work you have done.
Thanks
