I had a student enrolled for about two months using her school email address, then we discovered she was using the wrong address. The one she had been using belonged to another student in the district. When she enrolled in my class using the correct address, she had no data and had to start from scratch. Is there a way to merge her two accounts?
I've never heard of Khan Academy offering to merge two student accounts (you certainly cannot do so as a Coach or a Learner). However, there is a solution . . . you might not like it though.
I had a student who accidentally did about a month's work on their own Gmail account (not realizing that she wasn't being signed in with her proper school email account). I had her add me as a Coach for that account and looked at the work she'd done -- about 15% of fifth grade, as I recall.
So I brought up her old account view on my computer and had her sign in to her correct account on her computer -- and then, at her desk, for about 20 minutes, *I* just did the work and got her caught up to where she had been on her old account. It wasn't perfect -- I might have been one notch too high or too low on some of the skills, and she didn't have the record of the time spent on Khan or the energy points earned -- but it was pretty close. Most importantly, she was happy and could discard the old account. Problem solved! :-)
