Why is perfection required for proficiency? 6/7 questions correct should be enough.
I teach middle school in Toronto, and my students are frustrated that they can get 6 out of 7 questions correct on an exercise (for example, the "absolute value" exercises), evenTWICE, and still only get to the "Familiar" mastery level. 7/7 brings the user to "Proficient" - one step from "Mastery". Students feel getting 12/14 surely shows they are proficient with the topic at hand. 6/7 is ~86%, and an "A" on report cards in Ontario. Thoughts?
