Khan Academy has sadly removed backgrounds :( But I don't see why there is no save button for you as there is in the picture below. Some profiles require you to do a task as the one in the picture below shows you must have 250,000 energy points to unlock this avatar.

If you don't see the "Save" button after selecting your avatar, it can be due to your zoom level on the page. Try zooming out a bit and you will be able to see the button to save the changes on your profile.

But its not working and the avatar is always in the end not in the center and I tried zooming in and out but the save button doesn't show anyway
