I thought addition came before subtraction. Also, how do you know where to put parentheses when there are none in the equation already? Surprisingly, I think that Order of Operations is one of the hardest things I have learned in math ( I can do way harder math, but not even this!!). I need to understand every single rule about order of operations, so I will not mess up equations a a higher level just because of an order issue.

Hi Bailey,
There is a trick to remember the order of operations it's called PEDMAS and it goes like this
Parentheses
Exponents
Multiplication/Division
Addition /Subtraction

You work left to right. Now not all equations have this for example

(4+4)-(2+2), You would first work in the parentheses then subtract but you wouldn't have to worry about exponent etc.
