General guidance in JS programming

So I viewed a few of the early videos and now I'm more confused than ever. I don't see where I'm able to ask questions as we go along. I have a billion questions but hopefully most will be answer soon.

My main question is: how do I start this? what program do I use to write this JS code? and then once written, how do I make it work?

I mean there is too much assumption in this particular class. It might seem simple enough for a computer whiz but I really do not know what to use to write this code and then what to do with it. And truth be told, why would I want to know how to write a code on drawing a face?

The videos/articles will show you almost everything that you need to know to be able to code in Processing JS.

Once written the code, it will automatically output to the canvas and show you what you have created with it.

Why in the world? Cos its awesome and it brings creativity out of you! All games in the world are created by some type of code.

After you code the face, you can learn (later on in the tutorials) how to animate it, either with frameCount or mouse click/s or many other functions! Once you know how to do it, the amount of projects you can create becomes endless! An easy(ish) way to get inspired is to look on the Browse List. Here, there are a bunch of projects coded by programmer's that have managed to get a lot of votes (in a relatively short amount of time):
