How do I see student scores on quizzes they have taken and problems that they have tried?
Is there a way to schedule assignment start day and time in addition to having the due date?
Hi Anne,
Unfortunately, there is not currently a way to create an assignment start day. But I definitely understand how it could be helpful, so I'll forward this idea to the development team : )
Let me know if you have any further questions!
Was this feature ever added? I really need this feature!!
Hi Matt,
Unfortunately there is still no way to set a "start date" on assignments. However, when selecting content to assign you can choose "Save for later" to save the assignment and easily assign it later, which prevents students from accessing it early. When you want your students to see the assignment, you can visit the "Saved" tab in the assignment management page to quickly assign saved content.
Hope this helps!
Is scheduling assignments something that you are developing? It would be incredibly helpful for teachers. I keep hoping each year it will appear as a feature. Even with the Save feature, it can be difficult to manage multiple classes’ assignments - scheduling would help immensely.
Given the current situation where many teachers across the world are volunteering or being asked to start using your platform as a major resource, I just wanted to reiterate how incredibly helpful it would be if we could "schedule' an assignment to go live on a particular date. For now, I am planning to use Google classroom's schedule feature to post a description of what I want students to do on what date, and then hopefully students will focus in on those assignments by sorting by date on khanacademy.
I still don't have any updates on this, but one thing worth mentioning is that like you mentioned, using Google Classroom is a good workaround for "scheduling" assignments.
When you create an assignment on Google Classroom, you can also include a link to the content on Khan Academy that you want your student's to complete. Students don't actually need to do the assignment from the assignment list on KA---completing it from the content page will also mark the assignment as completed and record their score. So, if your GC assignments have links to the assigned KA content, students can use the GC assignment list instead of having to sift through their KA assignment list with all of the assigned content.
I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any additional questions!
Where can we find this link to insert into a GC assignment?
From the Manage Assignments page, click on the name of an assignment. This should then redirect you to the course page (the page students will see) with the assigned content on it. You can then copy the link URL and put that in a GC assignment.
To speed this up a little, once you open the assignment in the student view, you can use the "Google Classroom" button at the top of the page to quickly create a new GC assignment that has the assigned KA content already linked to it.
Thank you, Evan, for this idea. I too would like a 'schedule' feature, but this is a great workaround. Will students be forced to log into their Khan account when using these links to ensure that their work is recorded in my 'class ' ?
Yes, the students will need to be logged into their Khan Academy account in order for their scores to be recorded in your KA class.
It should also be noted that their scores won’t transfer to Google Classroom, so you will still have to create the assignments on Khan Academy, and view their scores here as well.
Thanks for the clarification. I'm going to stick with assigning it in Khan and not GC and just timing it right on my end. I think my students will complete the activity without being logged in and then I will never know they completed it. If we were established Khan users already I would opt to put the link in GC, but my students are not 'trained' in the process. Thanks !
Hello,
I have some great news to share with you!
Based on feedback that you and other teachers shared with our team, Khan Academy has just launched a new feature that will allow you to schedule assignments for a future date! We know that things are constantly changing in the classroom, and we wanted to make it easier for you to adjust course when you need to!
In addition to that feature, we’ve added the ability to edit multiple assignments at once. We hope you will enjoy these new features, and we welcome any feedback you have about them.
Most importantly, we want to thank you for taking the time to share your feedback to help make Khan Academy a better learning resource for everyone. We take all feedback to heart and appreciate you sharing your ideas with us.
If it’s been a while, and you need a refresher on using Khan Academy, I highly recommend our course, Khan for Educators. This is a dedicated course for teachers getting started at Khan Academy. It’s composed of seven lessons that explore everything from getting started to classroom implementation and diving deep into Khan Academy’s teacher reports.
Thank you so much for helping us improve Khan Academy!
Kind regards,
Dustin
