I have been looking to see if Khan Academy complies with The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) (Regulation (EU) 2016/679) that takes effect on 28/May/2018 but I have not found this on the site. Can anyone, in a position of authority at Khan, confirm or deny that Khan complies with the GDPR? As you can imagine, any school in the EU will be interested in ensuring this compliance. Thanks in advance for the help.
Hi greeng, Khan Academy is aware of the upcoming EU regulation. The company is working with relevant entities to make sure that they can continue to work towards their mission of global educational access.
I'm checking in, I performed a search for Khan Academy on Privacy Shield but don't see it listed. Does this mean it will be illegal for anyone in the EU to use your service?
Hi, I would also like to know about this, as it's unclear whether we can include Khan Academy as an expected learning activity in classes if it does not meet the requirements stipulated in the GDPR. If we can only suggest it to students, i.e. make it voluntary and up to the students (or their parents), that would limit its usefulness for unit planning.
