I am a high school math teacher, who has two sections of Algebra 1. I'd like to use Khan Academy mainly as a way to supplement what we're learning in class and "fill the holes" my students with math. I also want them to have fun with this.
What I am looking for is something that students can do regularly (say 10 minutes each night for HW) that is tailored to where they are at with math (i.e. each student's work could look different from the next) and I need a way to easily monitor that they are in fact doing their nightly 10 minutes.
I don't think I want to use "assignments" because that isn't really finding out where my students' holes are. Are "missions" my best bet? Also should I assign them an 8th grade mission instead of an Algebra 1 mission since we are just learning Algebra 1 and they justifiably don't have the Algebra 1 skills down yet?
Any feedback is much appreciated. Thanks!
