For many but different reasons, I am dissatisfied with Edgenuity, and Edmentum.
I am considering using Khan Academy, but I was wondering if it has tried to write its questions in such a way so as to combat the use of the shockingly amazing Photomath cell-phone app (https://photomath.net/en/).
It's free, and getting better all of the time. But it shows the answer and the steps to the answer to a W I D E variety of problems just by taking a picture of them!

HI Shane-My name is Julianne and I am a teacher in Idaho. I cannot tell you if the programmers of Khan have specifically written their questions to combat an app like Photomath- but I CAN tell you this: Khan was created for students who LOVE LEARNING. People who love to learn want to do just that: LEARN. Cheating is for students who are only concerned about getting a correct answer- not understanding the answer. Throughout your education you will be faced with many opportunities to learn- you will also be faced with opportunities to cheat and get a correct answer but not learn anything. I say: CHOOSE LEARNING! Give Khan a try- you will be amazed at all you can learn!
There are students that use the app. Yes they can cheat on a lot of the skills. Some ways to combat this is by having students only do their mastery challenges in class. It is very obvious who cheats because when they try their mastery they miss all of them or cannot start them. Another way to combat this is by going through the student data and you can see some students answering problems in seconds when it should take minutes, again very obvious. I do wish Khan would give a warning to teachers or coaches for students who can solve problems in a miraculous amount of time. For example I had 1 student who could solve systems of equations in 8 seconds. When he came to do his mastery challenge he all of a sudden couldn't start it. He tried to say his sister helped, he forgot his notes, but when it came down to it after about an hour struggling through he admitted that he cheated. Sad but it is true. Goes back to the idea of "if there is a will there is a way."

Thank you, Robert. I think that math education is evolving so fast! I think that we (including Khan Academy) need to move to the point where after the fundamentals are taught, every problem is a story problem. And great point about having tests proctored.

Look, if you are struggling talk to your teacher and your parents to get the problem worked out, whether the problem be understanding a math problem or just doing the problem, In most schools all you have to do is talk to your teacher and or your parents and they can arrange some kind of tutoring may it be before or after school to help you increase how you view your education.
