Ordering Assignments

I think the ability to set the assignment due date (and due time) is exactly what Khan Academy wants you to use to order your Assignments' priority.  It's a huge improvement over the previous version (Recommendations), which would stack up on students' screens from most-recently-recommended to least-recently -- which, unfortunately, is usually the opposite order that Coaches would assign them.  :-\  

And fortunately, Assignments expire -- which removes them from the students' view (something that never happened with Recommendations -- they'd just hang around on the students' view forever until either the student or Coach manually deleted them).

You can always edit the due time in order to change the order of the assignments if you don't like the original order.  Click-and-drag would be a simpler interface, but I think it would still require you to edit the due time (unless you think later-expiring Assignments should be listed higher on the screen in some situations).

You can work around this if you have Google Classroom - because I always number my assignments within it. It really helps keep my stream of assignments organized and helps students find assignments.

Thanks Jen & Doug - I didn't use Google Classroom last year, but I definitely plan to this year. I look forward to see how it works in conjunction with K.A.

This is another user-unfriendly feature of Khan Academy. I want to curate the order that my students complete assignments regardless of when the bucket of work is due. That's the entire point of blended, personalized learning! Another failure by Khan Academy to create a practical user interface, and more of my own time wasted creating laborious workarounds. Shame on you, Khan!

Well, this may be frustrating, but I'm still grateful for all the fantastic work KA has done.  It's a great tool. 

I've been trying to solve this problem by manipulating the due date, and what's happening is that the work is showing up in reverse order!  Not quite what I had in mind.  Any thoughts?

Khan would try the patience of Saint Francis.  How about make it easy to select a due date.

Geez!  Click, click, click from Sept to June of the next year/end of the school year. Absurd!!! How about the novel idea of letting the teacher ORDER the assignments.  Why would I have the student take Get Ready for 6th grade, then Get Ready for 5th Grade, then Get Ready for Algebra, then Get Ready for 3rd grade?!?  Assuredly, I put them in sequential order.  

Unbelievable WASTE of time.
