checking if linear equation is afunction.
I just watched the chapter " checking if an equation represents a function and am thoroughly confused. in the example, he is solving (x-3) = y Squared ( sorry, I do not have a way to type the small 2 for squared) he takes the square root of y and the square root of x-3 and says y squared can be positive or negative. but why? If I were solving that equation I would first change it to
(x - 3) = y * y
then divide both sides by y
giving you (x-3) / y = y.
i only see one answer not two??? so i am confused.
