What accessibility supports and accommodations are available for interim assessments?

What materials can students use?

Allowed:

• Paper and pencil
• The in-assessment calculator (available only for some questions)

Not allowed:

• Help from a teacher, or other students, on questions
• Personal items or electronic devices, including personal calculators

Breaks

Students can pause the assessment at any point and resume where they left off — pausing won't hurt their performance.

Additional time

Students may take as much time as they need to finish. Students are not required to complete pilot assessments if clas time runs out; however, we encourage students to complete Live and Beta (Early Access) assessments so they receive scors and recommendations.

Accessibility

Khan Academy Interim Assessments were designed with accessibility in mind from the very beginning. Our ACR reports a conformance level of "Supports" or "Partially Supports" for all applicable success criteria, with no "Does Not Support" findings. Criteria assessed as "Partially Supports" define the current scope of our remediation roadmap. Text to Speech

We have not fully tested all third party text-to-speech tools (e.g., ReadSpeaker), so we cannot guarantee support. We encourage you to try them and report any issues to accessibility@khanacademy.org.

Translation

Interim assessments are written and delivered in English, and the scoring of short response questions and EYT conversations are validated based on responses in English. We recognize that some students may use translation software to translate test questions, or may provide short responses and converse with Khanductor in other languages. We cannot vouch for the quality of these translations and have not yet evaluated the psychometric impact of translated test content or responses.
