How can we help?

What accessibility supports and accommodations are available for interim assessments?

Updated

What materials can students use?

Allowed:

  • Paper and pencil
  • The in-assessment calculator (available only for some questions)

Not allowed:

  • Help from a teacher, or other students, on questions
  • Personal items or electronic devices, including personal calculators

Breaks

Students can pause the assessment at any point and resume where they left off — pausing won't hurt their performance.

Additional time

Students may take as much time as they need to finish, but aren't required to complete the assessment if class time runs out.

Please see resume-time details in the article What are Khan Academy Interim Assessments and how do they work?.

Screen readers and magnification

Currently, item types are partially accessible by official screen readers and support magnification up to 200%. We haven't fully tested unofficial text-to-speech tools (e.g., ReadSpeaker) yet, so we can't guarantee support — you're welcome to try them and report any issues.

In-assessment calculator

The in-assessment calculator is not fully accessible to screen readers. Khan Academy is working toward a fully accessible assessment experience and we'll update this article with more details in the future.

If you have questions or run into any issues, feel free to reach out to the Khan Academy Support team through this link. We are here and happy to help!
