How do I navigate my Learning Queue and complete my assignments in Khan Academy?

Your Learning Queue is where you'll find the work assigned by your teacher. It helps you see what to work on next and keeps all of your assignments in one place.

Open your Learning Queue

To open your Learning Queue:

  1. Select your class from the navigation menu.
  2. Review your current assignments.

Understand Missions

Assignments in your Learning Queue are organized into Missions.

There are three types of Missions: Daily, Weekly, and Unit

Daily Mission

Your Daily Mission highlights the assignments that need your attention first, including work due today, tomorrow and any overdue assignments.

Your Daily Mission is built from your assigned work so you know what to focus on next.

Weekly Mission

Your Weekly Mission helps you plan ahead by showing assignments due later in the current week and the following week.

Like Daily Missions, Weekly Missions are automatically built from your assigned work.

Once you complete the Daily Mission, your Weekly Mission will appear (if there is work due).

Unit Mission

Unit Missions are assigned by your teacher and organized around a specific unit or topic.

To complete a Unit Mission, work through the assigned activities and build your skills toward Proficient and Mastered levels.

All work completed in Daily and Weekly Missions also counts toward your Unit Missions. You're not doing extra work.

Start working on assignments

At the top of your Learning Queue, you'll see your Daily Mission or Weekly Mission.

Select Start or Continue to jump into your next recommended assignment.

Below that, you'll see your Unit Missions.

Each Unit Mission displays:

  • The unit name
  • Your progress toward Proficient skills
  • Any due dates or overdue work
  • A Start or Continue button

Choose a mission view

When you open a Mission, you can switch between two views.

Path view

Path view displays assignments as a visual learning journey.

Assignments appear along a path that helps guide you through the unit.

This view can be helpful if you prefer a more structured experience.

List view

List view displays assignments in a table format.

You can quickly see:

  • Assignment names
  • Due dates
  • Assignment types
  • Unit information

This view can be helpful if you prefer to browse assignments directly.

You can switch between Path view and List view at any time.

Complete an assignment

Select any assignment to open it.

Depending on what your teacher assigned, you may see:

  • Exercises
  • Quizzes
  • Videos
  • Articles
  • Challenges
  • Unit tests
  • Course challenges

Complete the activity and your progress will update automatically.

Track your progress

Each Unit Mission includes a skill counter near the unit title.

For example, you might see:

4 of 16 skills Proficient

This tells you:

  • How many skills are included in the unit
  • How many skills you've already reached Proficient on

As you complete assignments and improve your skills, this counter updates automatically.

Daily Missions and Weekly Missions don't include a skill counter because they can contain assignments from multiple units.

View all assignments

Select View all assignments from your Learning Queue to see every assignment across all Missions.

From this page, you can:

  • View upcoming and overdue assignments
  • Filter assignments
  • See assignment types
  • Review due dates
  • Track completed and incomplete work

Watch for due dates

Assignments include due dates set by your teacher.

If an assignment is past due, it will be marked as Overdue.

Overdue assignments remain visible until they are completed or removed by your teacher.

Earn Gems and maintain your streak

Completing assignments helps you earn Gems and build your streak.

You can earn Gems by reaching:

  • Proficient on a skill
  • Mastered on a skill

You can use Gems to unlock accessories for Khanmigo through Khanmigo's Collections.

Completing assignments also helps maintain your weekly streak. Earn at least one new Proficient skill each week to keep your streak going.

Get help while you work

If Khanmigo tutoring is available for your account, Khanmigo can help you while you're working on assignments.

You can:

  • Ask where to start
  • Get help choosing a strategy
  • Check your work
  • Ask follow-up questions

Finished all your assignments?

If you've completed all assigned work, your Learning Queue will show that you're all caught up.

You can:

  • Wait for your teacher to assign more work
  • Explore content through Browse Subjects

Note: Work completed through Browse Subjects can contribute to your mastery progress and streaks, but it does not earn Gems.
