How can teachers use interim assessment performance reports?
Performance reports help you understand how your students are performing on assessments, including overall scores, engagement, and how students explain their thinking.
Access performance reports
- From the teacher dashboard, click on the assessments tab.
- Find the desired assessment
- Select "View Reports"
- Select the Performance tab.
Start with the class overview
When you open the Performance tab, you’ll first see a summary of your class results.
This includes:
- Average overall score
- Performance by domain (for example: Expressions, Functions, Statistics)
- A score distribution chart
Use this section to quickly understand overall performance and where students are clustered.
Understand performance levels
Student scores are grouped into three performance levels:
- Beginning
- Approaching
- Demonstrating

In addition, there are several other tabs that allow you to view other results
This view includes additional tabs such as:
- Student performance
- Student growth
- Explain Your Thinking
- Engagement
Use this alongside scores to better understand performance.
Review student performance
Click the Student performance tab to see detailed results for each student. Click on a specific student for specific details.
You’ll see:
- Completion status
- Overall score
- Scores by domain
- Total time spent
- Rushing indicators
Use this view to:
- Compare performance across content areas
- Identify students who may need support
- Spot patterns in performance
Review student growth
Click the Student growth tab to see how student performance has changed over time.
Growth is measured by how students’ overall scores and performance levels change across assessments.
What you’ll see
- Performance levels and scores from different assessment points (for example, middle of year and end of year)
- Changes in overall score
- Growth indicators showing increases or decreases in performance
Understand growth across your class
Use this view to:
- Identify students who are improving over time
- Spot students whose performance may be declining
- Compare growth across students in your class
View growth for an individual student
Click on a student’s name to see their detailed growth report.
You’ll see:
- A visual comparison of scores across assessments
- Changes in performance over time
Use this to:
- Support one-on-one conversations
- Track progress across assessment periods
View class-level Explain your thinking insights
Click the Explain Your Thinking tab to see patterns in how students explain their reasoning across the class.
Each question includes:
- The concept being assessed
- A summary of student responses
- Common strengths and misunderstandings
Use this to identify trends and plan instruction.
When are Explain Your Thinking insights available?
Explain your thinking insights appear once there is enough student data to provide meaningful insights.
- If there isn’t enough data yet, you’ll see a message indicating that insights are not available
- As more students complete the assessment, insights will appear automatically
Review student engagement
The “How engaged were students?” section shows how students interacted with the assessment.
This includes:
- Rushing through questions
- Ending conversations early
You’ll also see a student-level table with engagement indicators.
View detailed results for an individual student
Click on a student’s name to open their detailed report.
What you’ll see
At the top of the page:
- Overall score
- Scores by domain
- Indicators such as rushing activity
- An option to compare with the class average
Below that:
- The Explain your thinking questions section
Review Explain Your Thinking for an individual student
You can also view Explain Your Thinking responses for a specific student.
- Go to the Student performance tab
- Click a student’s name
- Scroll to the Explain your thinking questions section
What you’ll see
- A summary of the student’s response
- Key strengths and areas for improvement
- A Review conversation option to view the full interaction
How to use this
- Identify specific misconceptions
- Prepare for one-on-one support
- Better understand how a student is reasoning
Troubleshooting missing data
If you’re not seeing expected results:
- Confirm students have completed the assessment
- Check back after more students finish
