How can we help?

SAT essay practice is still available at Khan Academy - should I take it?

As you might know, College Board has discontinued the optional SAT Essay for weekend administrations of the SAT. You may be wondering why, then, is practice for the essay section still available on Official SAT Practice on Khan Academy?

Here’s why: students in several states may still be asked to complete the essay section as part of  SAT School Day administrations as part of their spring state-wide assessment system and we want to continue to do what we can to help students do their best!

The following states will be administering the SAT with Essay in the 21-22 academic year as part of their spring state-wide assessment system:

  • Colorado
  • Delaware
  • Illinois
  • Michigan
  • New Hampshire
  • Oklahoma

If you live in one of these states, please ask your school guidance office For additional information about your spring SAT testing requirements if you have any questions.

If you don’t live in one of the states listed above, then you won’t have an essay section on your SAT. You should feel free to bypass the optional essay section in our SAT practice tests.

We wish you the best with your preparation! You’ve got this!
