We know our teachers might be starting to plan for the new school year, so we wanted to give an update on some upcoming course updates.
We’re excited to share that we’ll be making significant enhancements to three AP courses this June and 10 Math courses in July. One consequence of adding this new content is that it will impact your students’ Mastery percentages.
When we add new content and remove old content, student Mastery percentages change, since the overall number of skills available changes (for example, instead of mastering 90 out of 100 skills, after an update a student might have mastered 90 out of 110, which would reduce their Mastery percentage from 90% to 82%).
With this specific course update, we expect that student Mastery percentages will change by the maximum listed below for each course (although students could see a much smaller Mastery percentage change):
- 46% in AP Computer Science Principles
- 18% in AP Biology
- 5% in Algebra 1
- 5% in Algebra 2
- 27% in HS Geometry
- 10% in Math 1
- 10% in Math 2
- 5% in Math 3
- 35% in 2nd Grade
- 25% in Early Math
- 7% in Basic Geometry
- 12% in Arithmetic
- 18% in Trigonometry
We're also fixing a bug in which empty exercises (exercises with no content) were added to courses accidentally (see below for a list of courses affected). We're removing these empty exercises, and most learners will either see no change in their Mastery percentage or a slight increase in Mastery. A small number of learners may see their Mastery percentage go down by a maximum of %1.
- Eureka Math/EngageNY 4th Grade
- Eureka Math/EngageNY 5th Grade
- Eureka Math/EngageNY Geometry
- 5th Grade Math
We’ll provide more detailed information on what specifically will change in each course in the coming weeks so you can better understand and plan for the new course content.
