What is the Khanmigo experience in Canvas for Khan Academy Districts teachers?
Updated
The Khanmigo Teacher Tools are available directly in Canvas for all US-based schools, including Khan Academy District (KAD) partners. KAD partners, however, have exclusive access to additional features on the Khan Academy platform. This article outlines the different features available for KAD teachers when using Khanmigo in Canvas versus directly on Khan Academy.
When should KAD teachers use Khanmigo on the Khan Academy platform instead of Canvas?
- Accessing the “Chat with GPT” tool
- Using Khanmigo with students such as Assignable Khanmigo Activities (ex. Writing Coach)
- Use of Khanmigo tools that give you insight into student progress on Khan Academy. These include:
- Summarize Student Chat History, Class Snapshot, Recommended Assignments
- Accessing the student Khanmigo experience. This includes:
- The Khanmigo Learner Activities Page, the Student/Teacher Toggle, and Companion Mode with Khan Academy course content
- Accessing Khan Academy classes or reports
Other considerations:
- Teachers should log in to their existing Khan Academy District-rostered account when syncing Canvas and Khan Academy.
- Login methods are: Google SSO, Clever SSO, and email/password.
- For districts using Clever, the recommended login option is using the Clever SSO.
- For districts using ClassLink, the recommended login option is using email and password.
- If you’re unsure what email address to use, please reach out to your district IT or admin contact.
- Login methods are: Google SSO, Clever SSO, and email/password.
- Grade passback between Khan Academy and Canvas is not currently available
- Teachers can access documents created using Khanmigo Teacher Tools via the “My Documents” page, whether those were created on Canvas or the Khan Academy platform.
