Why should my students add a parent email address?

To best protect our younger learners, Khan Academy asks students logging in with Google Apps for Education accounts to verify their age and then restricts accounts belonging to students under the age of 13. We then ask these students for a parent email address.

When the student provides this information, we’ll email their parent so that the parent can see the child’s progress on Khan Academy and encourage them to continue learning and growing.
