For those who can use extensions, the Chrome extension Dark Reader is an extension which can help use dark mode. With a bit of  tweaks in the settings, you can get this:

I do find the new update nice, but what was the use of removing backgrounds? Was it a plan to stop people from running for energy points and make them actually learn? I like the new avatars though....
