Python Terminal Interaction

I am trying to make an ASCII animation and I'm experimenting with binary numbers, but the terminal doesn't move with the printed characters so you have to scroll down and if it gets to long it becomes impractical or may even crash the terminal entirely. I was wondering if there could be a command or setting to somehow improve this?
